Butchulla‑led protection, education, and advocacy for wongari on K’gari
Wongari Advocacy Group Inc is a Butchulla‑led, community‑driven organisation working to protect wongari (dingoes) and strengthen understanding of their cultural and ecological importance on K’gari and Butchulla Country.
We promote safe coexistence, challenge misinformation, and support respectful behaviour on Country through culturally grounded education, community monitoring, and evidence‑based advocacy.
Our Work

Reporting Negative or Concerning Interactions
If you witness any negative, unsafe, or concerning interactions involving Wongari — including visitor behaviour, vehicle incidents, feeding, harassment, or management actions that appear harmful — please report these immediately to Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS).

Providing this information helps ensure timely responses to risks, supports safer coexistence on K’gari, and strengthens accountability in how Wongari are managed.
When reporting to QPWS, include:
Date, time, and location
Description of the behaviour or incident
Any photos or video (if safely obtained)
Details of vehicles, campsites, or individuals involved
Your contact details (optional)
Your report to QPWS is in addition to sharing your observations with the Wongari Advocacy Group. Both pathways are important: one supports immediate safety and compliance, the other strengthens long-term Butchulla-led advocacy and cultural oversight.
By sharing your observations, you contribute to a Butchulla-led archive of pack health, movements, and management impacts. This data is used directly in our advocacy for the ethical treatment and conservation of Wongari on K’gari.

Instructions for Contributors
1.Keep Your Distance: Please ensure you are at a safe and legal distance from the Wongari before taking photos or notes. Never approach or feed them.
2.Capture the Detail: Try to note any specific markings, ear tags, or collars.
3.Note Ranger Activity: If you observe management actions or ranger interactions with the pack, please document these specifically.
4.Submit Promptly: Uploading while the details are fresh helps maintain the accuracy of our records.
